Tis' The Season: Christmas Recap & Holiday Decor Under $25
While the holidays looked a lot different this year, it didn’t stop me from celebrating. I just reached down in my good ol’ bag of creativity and insisted on making the magic happen. So let’s start with a bit of a recap. Coming off of the Thanksgiving holiday, my spirit was full of gratitude and just being incredibly thankful. So it is no surprise that December came in with the same energy and a little ring-a-ling-ling of Christmas cheer.
It felt like everyone actually tapped into the bright and airy feelings that Christmas time brings. I pulled out all of the holiday decor to make my space feel just as bright and airy. Next, I lit my Winter cozy candles and watched all of the classic Christmas movies. I personally look forward to the Christmas holiday, because one of my favorite traditions has been baking cookies with my best girlfriends. Each year we take turns hosting and catching up while we bake. Sadly we did not get to physically link this Christmas, however, I invited each of the ladies to join me in a Cookie-Hour (my take on a happy hour) to still keep up with our tradition. The ladies had to bake or purchase their favorite cookie as we connected virtually via Zoom. Be sure to check out my reel on instagram. @onavenueb
Also, I was really thankful to celebrate and do a Holiday gift exchange and Christmas brunch with two of my friends. Quality time with them has been the absolute best and we just really relished in one another’s company.
As we approached Christmas I had an intimate gathering with my mom and siblings. Although small, I still laid out all of the trimmings. I want to share with you how to set up your Christmas tablescapes and decor for under $25. A tip for getting the top pick of holiday items , is to purchase immediately once the stores stock their shelves which usually happens in October. The best time to snag the best deals are a few days after Christmas. You can find Markdowns as low as 70-90% off. This is a good time to start thinking about your color palette for the following season.
Okay, so finally here are the Deets!! This year I went with a more neutral and earthy theme that consisted of deep hunter green, natural tones and burlap. Plaid was all the rave this holiday season and it’s no secret that I incorporated it into my theme. Adding green and navy plaid stockings from the Target Bullseye Playground more formally known as the DollarSpot (Note: Do Not sleep on the Target DollarSpot). These stockings were $3.00 each. I added three of the mini tabletop trees that were a brighter shade of green to compliment the space, these were priced at $1.00 each. I picked up a bag of frosted pine cones from Hobby Lobb that were $.1.50 and lastly I picked up two Canadian Pine Garlands from the At Home store that were $4.99 each and now on clearance for $2.00 (hurry while supplies last!) . On to the nitty gritty, I used one of the garlands to drape across my entryway console for a pop color and the other as the statement piece to my tablescape, I am an advocate of using what you have first and building from that. So in addition to the purchases, I used a few ornaments and tabletop trees I purchased and used for previous seasons by incorporating them into this years’ theme for a bit of razzle and dazzle. I hope you’ve enjoyed and until next time. Be Inspired, Be Encouraged, Be Blessed
